Hospice announces new assisted living

A dream is becoming a reality for the staff and board members of Hospice of Hope in Maysville to bring an assisted living facility to the region.

In June, Hospice Executive Director Kavin Cartmell and Director of Development and Public Relations Michael Parker announced HoH was involved in preliminary discussions and strategic planning to determine if the local region could support an assisted living facility and also a separate, Inpatient Center for Hospice patients.

On Saturday, the 17-member Hospice of Hope Board of Directors approved the plan to construct both facilities and to seek funding assistance for construction costs.
"We as an organization needed to commit to the project. Now that we have, we're going forward," Parker said Thursday.

Since September 2009, six HoH board members, as well as Hospice staff have worked to develop a strategic plan to explore the feasibility of such a project, what the costs involved would be and where such a facility would be located.

Those questions have been answered and the result will be a 32-bed assisted living facility and an 8-bed Inpatient Center located on acreage next to the Kenton Station Golf Course and Rainbow Meadows Subdivision on Kentucky 9.

Both the assisted living facility and the Inpatient Center will be on the same campus, which will encompass up to 25 acres.

Senior Living at Kenton Pointe is the name selected for the assisted living facility, which will be a one-story building and will offer three levels of apartments; a studio apartment with a bedroom, bath and kitchenette; one bedroom apartment with a kitchenette, bath and living room; or a deluxe one bedroom apartment with the same number of rooms, but with more square footage.

Cartmell said a waiting list has been started for the assisted living facility."Instead of our seniors having to relocate (out of the area) they can stay here now. They're not going to have to seek this type of facility elsewhere," Cartmell said, adding this is a further benefit to the community because senior citizens volunteer and contribute their time in so many capacities throughout the region.

"This is a feel good, win-win story," Parker said, noting the two facilities will create 48 jobs with an equivalent of 40 full-time jobs; generate an estimated $1 million per year in payroll, enhance community healthcare needs and provide a service that keeps our citizens here.

Jobs will include administrative and management levels, nurses, nurses aids, dietary, housekeeping and more.
The estimated project cost is $7 to $8 million dollars; funding is being sought through federal and state grant programs, private foundations, private donations, and fund-raisers.

Amenities of the assisted living complex will include a country setting, central kitchen and dining room, family and community room, a craft room, exercise room and transportation service for residents.

The Inpatient Center will be in addition to the six Hospice rooms offered at area hospitals and the 5-bed Inpatient Center at Adams County Regional Medical Center.

Finding the Right Assisted Living Facility

Choosing the right assisted living facility is hard. There are multiple assisted living facilities all over the Cleveland area. Some specialize in Alzheimer's and dementia, some specialize in rehabilitation with the focus on returning home, and others focus on independent living with minimal help. So how do you know which facility is right for you or your loved one?

The following are a few tips, resources, and people you can ask to make sure that you are making the right choice when it comes to choosing an assisted living facility.

1. Unbiased reviews. Searching online for reviews can pull up a lot of results for reviews on assisted living facilities. Some of these reviews might not always be unbiased. Make sure that the reviews you are reading are from an unbiased source. There are groups and even an ombudsman that can give you unbiased reviews of assisted living facilities to help you make that choice.

2. Physically Visit the Center. Never just go based off of reviews. Physically visit the center, preferably during visiting hours and unannounced. This allows you to get a feel for the facility, the atmosphere, and observe how the workers and patients interact. These are all items that can play a huge factor in choosing an assisted living center and it's best to observe these things in person.

3. Work Closely with your Doctor and the Center. Once you have it narrowed down to a handful of assisted living centers consider sitting down with your doctor and discussing the choice. He might have knowledge of some of the centers, how they work, and what they specialize in. Your doctor will know which centers will work best for what health conditions you might be suffering from or which will work best for rehabilitation purposes.

Make an online payment

Firstly you know that what is Online Payments then you closely know the how to make an online payments. There are several different schemes for online payment.
  • Online credit or debit card payment. They are generally accepted by businesses when they sell online. The card issuer or a third party such as WorldPay or SecureTrading verifies the card information and pays the seller after deducting a commission. For consumers, paying with a credit card gives them a degree of security against non-delivery or fraud but only for transactions worth more than £100.
  • Payments can be made by email using a service like PayPal. Money is transferred between two electronic accounts which are topped up using a credit card or bank transfer and accumulated funds can be moved to a bank account. These services often include buyer and seller protection; allow instant payments and give buyers a degree of comfort that the identity of a seller has been confirmed.
  • Other, less common forms of online payment include: SMS billing, dialler billing and pre-pay accounts.
  • Escrow isn’t a form of payment in itself but it is sometimes used for high-value online purchases and auctions. This is what happens:
    • The buyer transfers the funds for the goods to a third-party escrow service, such as Escrow.com or Auctionchex.com (always use a trusted escrow service which is recommended by an auction site).
    • The seller, confident that funds are available, ships the goods.
    • The buyer confirms receipt of the goods.
    • The escrow service releases the payment to the seller.
  • Money transfer, such as Western Union or MoneyGram, allows money to be sent to numerous agents around the world where recipients can collect the money in cash. While it has many legitimate uses, especially for sending money to friends and family, this form of payment is not recommended for online auction or online shop payments.
  • Internet banking. Most financial institutions offer their customers the ability to check their balances, transfer funds, and pay utility bills or friends and family online.

    Assisted Living Nursing Home

    Assisted Living Nursing Home
Assisted Living Facilities, popularly known as ALF. These facilities are for people needing assistance with daily living activities, but who want to live as independently as possible for as long as possible. The goal is to bridge the gap between independent living and nursing homes.

Assisted Senior Living is not like any of the other senior housing sites on the web. Assisted Senior Living was created by caregivers, for caregivers. We have gathered information from state and federal sources, then combined it with public information to provide one of the most complete resources for seniors and caregivers (new senior care services are also welcome to create a free listing). We give you as much information as possible to help you make your decision.

Residents in assisted living centers are not able to live by themselves, yet do not require constant care either. Such facilities offer help with eating, bathing, dressing, laundry, housekeeping, and assistance with medications. Many facilities also have centers for medical care; although, the care offered may not be as intensive as the care offered at a nursing home.
